Graduation

The following is a step-by-step guide to help students navigate the graduation process. Filing to graduate should be completed one to two semesters before graduation. Visit Academic Advising for additional assistance.

Step 1: Application for Degree

• Complete Application for Degree.

Step 2: Planning for Graduation

• Complete Graduation Plan.
• NOTE: The plan must include ALL courses and credits required for graduation.

Optional: Minor Verification

• Download Minor Requirements form.

• Courses used for a minor cannot be double-dipped with a major.
• For multiple majors, minor forms are filed with primary college.

• Obtain minor department advisor signature.
• Send the completed form by UH FileDrop to cssadv@hawaii.edu or bring the completed form to the Academic Advising Office (Dean Hall, Room 2) for approval and processing.

Required for Select Majors: Major Verification

For Communication, Ethnic Studies, and Journalism majors only.

Completion Steps for Journalism majors:

• Complete a Journalism Major Requirement Verification form.

Completion Steps for Communication and Ethnic Studies majors:

• Download Major Requirement Verification form.
• Obtain major department advisor signature.
• Send the completed form by UH FileDrop to cssadv@hawaii.edu or bring the completed form to the Academic Advising Office (Dean Hall, Room 2) for approval and processing.

• If multiple majors, complete a separate form for each.

Step 3: Schedule an Appointment

Schedule an appointment with an academic advisor to review graduation requirements.

Step 4: Check Your Progress

Check academic progress on STAR and if needed, schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.

Step 5: Pay Diploma Fee

Pay diploma fee posted in MyUH.

Visit the UH Mānoa Commencement Office website for information related to commencement.

Optional: Request for Written Verification (optional)

Students can receive a letter verifying graduation prior to the issuance of a diploma.

• Complete Request for Written Verification form.
• Examples: graduate school, military commissioning, employment, JET.
