The point slope formula of a line is y - y₁ = m (x - x₁)

Example 1: Using pre-algebra basic rules evaluate the expression (7 × (y + 2)), where y = 3. Solution: Given, y = 3. Putting the value of y (by substitution property) in (7 × (y + 2)), we get, 7 × (3 + 2) = 7 × 5 = 35. Answer: 35
